Every Friday afternoon we raise a glass to celebrate some of the best new boozy bottles to hit store shelves. Today we’re elevating cliché polka dots and floral prints to unforeseen levels of class. So let’s celebrate Mother’s Day and National Packaging Design day right—by keeping things lovely and sophisticated, just like mom.

Lolea Brut, by estudioversus
This might be the most romantic sparkling wine we’ve seen yet. The Spanish design studio estduioversus reclaims the polka dot from little girls and ’50s housewives by toning down the cutesy factor. By pairing it with vintage details like elegant gold and classic type, the design evokes a romantic look we never expected from the bubbly pattern.

Vermut de Luna, by Mucho
Sometimes it’s best not to overthink it. Take the imagery for this apéritif drink, which is bottled on the first night of the crescent moon and so finds inspiration in its lunar muse. The silkscreened moon cycle is an obvious but beautifully graphic image for an unfussy and on-point design.

Veuve Clicquot, by 5.5 designstudio
Maybe it’s the saturated yellow, the stylish envelope clutch, or the undeniable practicality of an isothermic pocket (the wine cooler’s much chicer cousin), but this looks like the perfect gift for mom. Inspired by old-school correspondence (a.k.a. snail mail), these vintage packaging solutions are cute enough for a Wes Anderson film—and stylish enough for an on-the-go mom with excellent taste.

Coca i Fitó, by Atipus
Flowers on Mother’s Day seem so typical, but this floral label by Atipus is anything but. The packaging—beautiful enough for a perfume bottle—provides the perfect amount of pretty pastels without feeling mumsy, and the illustration lends the design a delicate, feminine look that’s counterbalanced by the strong type and elegant monochromatic packaging.
