Every Friday afternoon we raise a glass to celebrate some of the best new boozy bottles to hit store shelves. Today we’re gearing up for Cinco de Mayo with the finest spirits and designs Mexico has to offer. From an enigmatic tequila to “heaven”-ly wine, let’s elevate our festivities above the day’s typical brand of debauchery.

Tiqo, by Futura
Not interested in neon colors and busy patterns? Monterrey-based Futura rescues us from the mayhem with its boldly quiet design. The super zen mixture of graphic type, matte black, and a light touch of cerulean evokes a spirit of “moonlit stroll along the beach” that’s a welcome departure from the “wild pool party.”

Scielo, by Anagrama
We’ve never been shy about our obsession with Mexican design firm Anagrama’s consistently stunning work. But this time, the firm marries its contemporary style to one of the oldest art inspirations around: heaven. The printed wrapping and die-cut label manage to finally elevate the “stairs leading to the clouds” metaphor beyond a cliché.

Yubarta Beer, by Domingo Reyes
Can craft beers move beyond the twee? According to this Mexican brew, yes they can. Yubarta toes the line between cute and macho with an artful amount of boldness and charming details—from striking colors and impactful type, to flowing illustration and vintage ribbons.

Creencias, by Yujo! Creatividad Aplicada and Rodrigo Mercado
Two designers dare to rethink the wraparound label for a look that pairs well with a sunny beach. With simple paper tags and a roll of raffia, the tropical design has totally wooed our inner minimalist and DIY fiend.
