“A crisply designed think tank of articles and essays; more literary journal than design showcase.”—Creative Bloq

It’s here, guys. After months of scheming, reporting, writing, editing, and daydreaming, the first issue of Eye on Design magazine is real and ready for the buying. The theme is “Invisible,” though as you can see, the mag is anything but. We asked our guest designer, Maziyar Pahlevan, to run wild, and the result is a magazine that celebrates graphic design just as much as the written word.

“A really fascinating piece of magazine-making”—Stack

For this issue, we’re dedicating 160 pages to telling stories that reveal the code, data, and grids lurking behind our designed interfaces. We’ll explore intangible subjects like identity and mental health, made visible by some of our favorite artists, illustrators, and designers, including Alexandra Bell, Nate Lewis, and Antoine Cossé. There’s even a recipe or two included—though we don’t suggest you eat the final result.

We’re excited and proud to share this first issue with our readers and the AIGA community. Subscribe here, and you’ll get Eye on Design in your mailbox three times a year.

“The editorial conversation swings effortlessly from print to coding to art, addressing the personal and the political as well as both the detailed and the general.”—Magculture
