Every Friday afternoon we raise a glass with the packaging design experts at The Dieline and celebrate some of the best new boozy bottles to hit the shelves. Last week we were so smitten with the sunny yet sexy packaging design by Anagrama for La Cervecería de Colima that we decided to keep things merry and bright with Ivan Castro’s latest work for El Bandarra, a dark Spanish vermouth meant to be enjoyed on the rocks.

For the project, Castro married his calligraphy skills and love for tropical drinks (he’s got a serious tiki collection, too) into an identity for El Bandarra that really looks like a party in a bottle. His concept was simple, based on “the ritual of having a drink with friends on a sunny Sunday before lunchtime in a neighborhood bar. The graphics printed in the bottle mimic the window sign painting in all the bars in Barcelona a few decades ago, and the texts are idioms and expressions one would hear while having a vermouth with friends.”
