Beautiful Booze Bottles Fit for Your Thanksgiving Table

Welcome to the Thanksgiving edition of Happy Hour. You might already be a bottle of wine deep into the day (no shame), but we’re here to celebrate that overindulgence with a few more alcoholic options—all of them expertly designed. So go ahead and take a break from the turkey, and tune into the best in booze branding this month.

Haus: Haus

We live in a direct to consumer world—from beds to sofa to plants, these days you can order pretty much anything off the internet, and it’ll ship directly to your home. Why should booze be any different? Haus is a new brand of low-ish ABV aperitif that’s taking the DTC route, and it has the branding to show for it. The sleek bottles are designed in true millennial minimalism 2.0 style: serene off-white background with a gilded, oversized serif typeface (festive, right?). It strikes the perfect balance between friendly and aspirational, simple and attention-grabbing. In other words, it’s going to look really nice on your bar cart.

Miller Brewing Company: Miller High Life

Ok, so this isn’t new branding per se, but we can’t not highlight the crème de la crappy beer crème when it comes out in a fancy new bottle. Just in time for the holidays, Miller Highlife, aka the “champagne of beers,” now comes in a bottle to match its moniker. You can grab a champagne bottle’s worth of the bubbly brew, which features its classic branding of swirly, ornate type and lots of gold. It’s at once perfectly gimmicky and perfectly on point—the signs of a very good marketing ploy.

Buddy Buddy: No. 12 Cider

When Minnesotan cider house No. 12 decided to open a shiny new flagship brewery in Minneapolis, it wanted a new identity to go with it. Local design shop Buddy Buddy crafted a friendly design that nods to the brand’s obvious use of apples with a tree trunk surrounded by minimalist circles. Paired with a soft sans serif and a deep color palette of navy and terracotta, the cans balance modern, sweet, and a touch of Midwestern charm.

Elena Andraiz: Irati

Irati is a brand that’s rooted in place. Named after the forest that stretches along the Spanish coast in the Pyrenees mountains, the new Patxaran digestif is made with wild berries sourced from the region. Its deep red color is bold enough that designer Elena Andraiz didn’t need to cover it with a flashy design. Instead, she created a simple label with serrated edges and a typeface “inspired by the unspoiled landscape of the Irati Forest.” We’re not exactly sure what that means in type form, but the result is striking nonetheless.
